Andre' Pitre, native of Beaumont, Texas, is flying high with the recent release of his Album Evolution and the reprise of the hit play The Black Man - A Mental Health Journey is a theatrical and musical stage play produced by  Andre' Pitre and actress/writer Charnele Brown (Kimberly Reese from the legendary TV show 'A Different World')  Fame. Pitre is an alumnus of Prairie View A&M University, singer/NAACP Image Award-nominated actor.

After a 2023 encore performance in Los Angeles, Dallas and Houston, the play returned to the MATCH - Midtown Arts & Theater Center Houston on May  16. It's only fitting as the month of May is National Mental Health Awareness Month, Pitre plays a conundrum of seven characters that delves into the minds of why Black men do what they do. “There is a war going on between Black men and Black women! In order to get to the root of the issue, we must know from whence it comes," says Ms. Brown.

Pitre delivers a riveting focus on mental health awareness, self expression, and how his HBCU experience at PVAMU helped shape his experiences as an artist. The play also addresses the personal vulnerability of Andre' while tackling the topic of Exploring Black Men's Mental Health Through The Arts that he hopes audience can themselves in the characters. Among the audience was cadre of PVAMU alumni to cheer Andre on, who recognize them and fielded questions to close out the performance.

Then on Sunday, May 19, Pitre delivered a showstopping performance with songs from his recently released Evolution album at Houston's finest Red Cat Cafe in Bayou Place downtown. Andre also engaged the ladies his rendition of several oldies and classics from The Temptations, Frankie Beverly and Maze, Michael Jackson, Prince, Lakeside, to name a few. Of course the PVAMU followers were there in numbers, especially the ladies that led the charge of tipping Andre with large dollar bills.

Pitre is a graduate of West Side High School in Beaumont. He also received his Bachelor's degree in Communications, with a minor in Theater from Prairie View A&M University. During his freshman year at the university, he was a founding member of a trio Rapor (Andre, Cedric and Jeff) that won the Homecoming Talent Showcase, the first time that a freshman group had won the contest. With the absence of the Jeff the group continued for two more years. Cedric did not return to school and Andre began his solo career.

He released his first album, This is Andre on UNITAN Records. Andre is the recipient of many awards for his athletic, academic and musical abilities including Best Male Vocalist (Solo and Group), Outstanding Freshman Male and Most Handsome. He acted in several plays as a member of the internationally renowned Charles Gilpin Players and performed at the Talent Showcase for the N.A.F.E.O. in Washington, DC.
